A New Record

Today we have broken a new record. At 10 weeks and 2 days we have made it into unknown territory. This is the longest we have ever made it through a pregnancy.

2 days ago we had an awesome ultrasound scan. Strong heart beat, lots of movement, and measuring a few days larger than expected. I'm not complaining about any of that. According to my doctor we have less than a 3% chance of miscarriage at this point. 2 more weeks and we'll be in the 2nd trimester, with even less of a chance of loss in anyway.

It should be comforting, but I'm more scared than previously. I know how to deal with a 1st trimester loss, there's something comforting about already knowing what to expect. As we get closer to the 2nd trimester I'm moving into unknown territory. I have no idea what to expect or how to deal with a possible loss after 10 weeks.

Today I got a text saying my baby was the size of a prune (thanks thebump.com). We lost Kylie at 10 weeks but she was smaller than that because she stopped growing a week or two before. I can't imagine losing a baby that I've seen wiggle around and heard a strong heart beat for like I have Stitch.

My anxiety is making me into a not so great person to be around. I pick fights with D, and have been pushing friends away. I'm afraid of another loss. I don't want anyone else to be close to me so they wont have to deal with the loss too. I'm legitimately freaking out and I don't know how to deal with it.

  1. Take it one day at a time, one hour at a time if you have to. Try not to stress too much. Love D. and talk to your friends. Take time to be alone when you need to be, people who love you will understand. Get a rocking chair and a blanket, they are comforting when we are upset and are soothing to the baby. Listen to music, take comfort from a furry critter, they will appreciate that as much as you. I am praying for you and your baby. I don't know you but I know what you are going through. I am a great-grandma now. (((((HUGS)))) and much love to you and yours dear.
