This Christmas

It should be Daniel's first Christmas and the Twin's third.
There should be so many more presents under the tree with the names James, Kylie, and Daniel on each little tag,
"Baby's First Christmas" ornaments hung on the boughs,
Screams of laughter and the tearing of paper should be filling the air,
"Mommy look at this!"
"Daddy help!"
Patters of feet as little ones run for hugs,
Daniel playing with paper instead of the toys,
Parents and Grandparents glowing with cheer,
Instead there is silence,
Barren boughs without decoration,
Sad smiles and hugs exchanged after gifts,
It should be Daniel's first Christmas and the Twin's third.
